Prayer & Praise

~ Those who are participating in the Child Dedication service this morning include Jordan & Marcy Falk with their daughter, Hailey Jade, Gerry & Cassie Giesbrecht with their daughter, Taryn Grace, Felix & Heidi Houle with their daughter, Kairi Christine,  and Dustin & Leah Fehr with their son, Deacon Oliver.  We rejoice with you in the gift of these children and want to commit ourselves to support you in our prayers.  May these children grow and be nurtured so that they may experience the love of God and dedicate their lives in service to our Lord Jesus Christ.

~ We continue to uphold Tenley Falk and her family in our prayers as they move along with the lengthy maintenance phase of treatment.  We pray also for wisdom for the doctors and other medical staff who are faced with daily challenges of decisions and treatment options.  May God the Source, continue to provide what is needed.  Updates can be found at: http://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~Eden Health Care Services is offering a full day workshop on Dementia, exploring the journey of forgetting and being forgotten, on Tuesday, October 25 from 9 am – 4 pm at the Access Event Center in Morden.  Anyone interested is invited to attend.  Two leading professionals, Dr John Swinton and Dr Michael Dyck, will offer keynote presentations.  Registration for the day is $40.  Registration for the evening lecture beginning at 7 pm is $10.  You can attend one or the other or both.  Register online through the Eden website or call 325-5355.

  • Featured prayer request from the wider church:  Caught in a complex web of social disintegration, environmental toxicity and water shortages, Indigenous women in Tlamacazapa, Mexico are re-creating a sense of worth and identity through art. Until Nov. 12, 2016, Mennonite Heritage Centre Gallery is displaying the We are your Future art exhibit featuring their skilled palm weaving. Pray that this exhibit will raise public awareness and at the same time, uplift the artists and nurture their faith.

~ This weekend the Senior Youth are away on their annual retreat at Camp Arnes.  We pray that this will be a meaningful time of connection with each other and with God.  May your time together continue to be a source of inspiration and encouragement to one another.

~ Andrea Fehr left this past Wednesday to go back to her ongoing involvement with YWAM in Hawai’i.  We trust that this will continue to be a time of significant interaction with students, fellow staff and being led to deepening relationship with God. We want to continue our prayer support for Andrea and the organization she is involved in.

~ We are grateful that testing so far has indicated no brain damage to Tenley Falk as a result of the medications she has been on.  We continue to be grateful for her resilience, her love of life, her prayer life and for the steadfast support of family and friends.  May God, the Source, continue to provide what is needed for Tenley and her family.  Updates can be found at: http://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ Thank you to the Music Committee for planning our fall Songs of Praise Sunday.  It is good to offer our God praise and thanksgiving.  Our Creator delights in our offerings of thankfulness.

~ Thank you also to the many people in our congregation who spend time in committees, who often do a lot of work behind the scenes, work which often goes unnoticed.  Thank you for your diligence, your commitment and time.

~ Thank you also to the many in our congregation who spend time in prayer for one another and for our wider world beyond southern Manitoba.  We need each other’s prayers.  We value and are keenly aware of the prayer support of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

~ Welcome to our annual Thanksgiving Worship Service.  We do worship a God of abundance, who provides for our physical and spiritual needs and calls us to be generous in our giving and living.  We are invited to stay for a noon meal following the service.  Thank you to the food committee for preparing the meal for us.

~ Matilda Krahn, beloved grandmother of Katrina Schulz passed away this Wednesday, September 28.  Her funeral will be held this coming Tuesday, October 4 at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Winnipeg.  We pray for God’s comfort and an awareness of God’s presence for the family as they grieve the loss of a dear family member.

~ Wednesday, October 5 is the date for our 24 hour prayer vigil for Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda.  Let us not cease to pray for one another, let us keep each other in our prayers before the throne of grace and mercy.

~ We continue to offer our prayer support for Tenley Falk and her family, as she begins the maintenance phase of her treatment. This will continue until Spring 2018. ~ Tina Neufeld, aunt of Walter & Marilyn Dyck, Erica & Dave Rempel and Rudy & Kathy Franz, passed away last Saturday, September 17. We gather together on Friday, September 23, 2016 to formally say farewell and lay her body to rest. We are grateful for a life lived with exuberant faith in her Lord and Savior.

~The funeral for Abram H Klassen, grandfather of Janel & Michael Peters, was held on September 15. We trust that you also as a family will experience God’s continued comfort as you continue on the journey of life without this reference point in your lives.
