Prayer & Praise

~ The installation service for our deacons has been postponed until Sunday, February 12.  We are expecting that both Garry & Karla Fehr and Abe & Viola Fehr will be able to be present.  We are grateful for their willingness to serve in this way and want to uphold them as well as our current deacons, Ray & Charlotte Klassen and Henry & Sara Froese in our prayers.

~ Jaime and Tenley Falk were transported by ambulance to Winnipeg this past Wednesday.  Tenley has contracted RSV, a rather nasty respiratory virus.  She is currently in isolation and undergoing testing for various other pains that at this point are unexplained.  Jaime asks for our prayers for Tenley’s pain, her low blood counts, and for the other children who are missing their mother and for continued strength and perseverance.  Updates can be found at: http://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Susan Janzen, Trudy Harms, Helen Fehr, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel.

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico, Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, Andrea Fehr with YWAM in Hawai’i

Prayer for the week:

God of guidance, quicken Your Holy Spirit in our hearts and minds so we may follow what is right.  Give us direction so we may know which way to choose and which to refuse; which course to claim and which to reject; which action to take and which to avoid. Enlighten our minds, purify our hearts, strengthen our wills, and lead us to live as faithful followers of Jesus all the days of our lives.  Amen.

Memory Passage

 Ephesians 6: 10 – 20 NIV

  1. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. 11. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15. and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
  2. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20.for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
