Verse of the Week:

When He saw the crowds He had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”  Matthew 9: 36-38

Prayer & Praise

~ A special welcome to Ron Pearce, the founder of Empower Ministries.  Throughout his extensive travels, Ron seeks to resource the local population, see where God is at work in the world and enables the people of these regions to be equipped to minister for the glory of God and the work of God’s kingdom.  We appreciate your willingness to share the gospel with us; to hear from you what is happening within the worldwide church.  May God continue to bless your ministry.

~ We are planning to have our service of baptism and communion on Sunday, May 20, 2018.  We invite your prayer support for those who are planning to make a public confession of their faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord.  This will be followed be a service of Baptism and communion. Those requesting baptism include: Nick Driedger, Tyson Fehr, Josh Dyck, Heidi Miller, Mark Falk, Lauren Fehr, and Jesse Miller.

Prayer for the Week:

Set our hearts ablaze with love for You, O Christ, that in its flame we may love you with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our soul and with all our strength and our neighbors as ourselves, so that, keeping Your commandments, we may glorify You, the giver of all good gifts. Amen.

~ Education committee meeting Thursday May 10 at 7 pm

~ Congratulations! To Rudy Franz, Karla Fehr, and Bennett Friesen, who are receiving prizes for their participation in “I Love to Read” month. Prizes can be claimed in the library.

~ In an effort to be good stewards, we re-use Sunday school teaching materials whenever possible.  However, over the years, we have accumulated extra supplies, especially in regard to DVBS materials, which we would love to share with any children’s ministry that could put it to use.  If you know of any ministry that would benefit from lesson plans, activity papers, music, etc., please contact Ingrid or Marilyn.

~ The Westside Community Church (from Morden) Board of Elders has put together some information and suggested responses regarding the funding applications for the Canada Summer Jobs Program.  This application requires organizations to check a box indicating their support of “reproductive rights” which includes “the right to access safe and legal abortions.”  The ministerial of the Blumenort Mennonite Church has discussed this issue and thought that it would be worthwhile to circulate the information from the Westside church in the form of an insert.
