Verse of the Week:

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel call and with the sound of the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord.  Therefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4: 16-18

Prayer & Praise

~ Welcome to the last Sunday of the Church year.  On this day we want to acknowledge those from among our midst as well as from our extended family who have passed away this last year.  We are grateful for their life of faith.  While we recognize the loss they represent, we also want to be reminded of the hope that is ours through the resurrection of Jesus the Christ.

~ We are saddened to hear of the passing of Bernie Hildebrandt, of Killarney, son of the late Jake & Eva Hildebrandt and nephew of Eva Schellenberg & Peter E Hildebrandt and their families.  We want to uphold you in our prayers and trust that the Good Shepherd will be your guide and comfort during these days.

~ Walter and Marilyn are leaving tomorrow along with others on a study tour of Israel and Ethiopia.  They will also have an opportunity to visit Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda.  We want to wish you safety and God’s blessings on your journey and look forward to hearing about your reflections when you return.

~ Donations to our mitten tree are gratefully welcomed, and will be distributed to various local schools.  Thank you, in advance, for your generosity.

~ We are grateful for medical facilities, doctors and nurses who are able to provide services to us in our time of need.  Tim Wiebe, Nettie Ginter and Tenley Falk continue to access these services aw we continue to pray for them and their families. We remember also Austin Penner at the Agassiz Youth Centre in Portage la Prairie. He values our prayer support. Updates for Tenley can be found at: www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel, Mary Klassen in the Rock Lake Personal Care Home in Pilot Mound, and Peter E Hildebrandt  in Altona Hospital,  who are dealing with health issues.

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico; Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM,  and Andrea Fehr with YWAM in Hawai’i

Prayer for the Week:

If you were not risen O Lord, to whom would we go to discover a radiance of the face of God?  If you were not risen we would not be together seeking your communion.  We would not find in your presence forgiveness, the wellspring of a new beginning.  If you were not risen where would we draw the energy for following you right to the end of our existence, for choosing you again and again? Amen.
