Prayer & Praise

~ There were funerals this past week for two of our members who were in Personal Care Homes.  On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, Lena Rempel, from Riverview Health Centre and on Friday, October 26, 2018 Trudy Harms, from Eastview Place in Altona were both laid to rest.  We trust that their families will continue to find comfort in God’s presence with them.  Also may the hope of the resurrection continue to sustain all of us in our journey of faith.

~ Let us uphold Dave Rempel in our prayers as he goes in for his second knee replacement surgery on Friday, November 2, 2018.

~ Jon & Natalie Neudorf are planning to return home from Thailand at the end of November, 2018.  The work which they have begun in Chang Mai will be taken over by the local leadership.  Jon & Natalie are comfortable with the transition of ministry and are looking forward to reconnecting with family and friends.  We want to uphold them in our prayers during this time of transition and we praise God for their faithful ministry during these last 4 years.

~ Thanks to everyone who has offered or said “yes” to helping with this years’ club season. We plan to run Nov 7 – March 20 from 7-830pm. I will be posting a cookie sign- up sheet in the front foyer. Feel free to message or call Rachelle Loewen with questions 362-8323

~ Continue in prayer for Tenley Falk and family, and Nettie Ginter and family, Tim Wiebe and family as they continue to deal with the challenges of after effects of treatments.

~ Kelly Fehr as she continues to recover from her illness.

~ Harv Thiessen as he continues to recover at home.

Austin Penner, as he rejoins the PASS program in Winnipeg in December

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Helen Janzen at Bethania Mennonite Personal care home and Jake Rempel at Donwood Personal Care Home.

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico, Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, Andrea Fehr who is home working on VISA requirements before she can head back to Hawai’i, and Tyler Loewen in Cambodia with MCC.

Prayer for the Week:

Living God, source of Light and Life, we come to You as broken members of Your Body; Your strength is our strength, Your Health is our health, and Your Being is our being.  Grant us Your wisdom in our work, Your Love in our pain and Your Peace in our hearts.  Send Your blessing on all those who care for the sick, and those whom they serve, and give us the joy of everlasting love.  In the name of Jesus, Your Son, we pray, Amen.

A donor has generously provided funding for full tuition assistance, when a student studying in church ministry related fields, serves with MDS for 8 weeks. It’s an amazing opportunity.  Feel free to share the paragraph below in whatever manner works for your congregations.  Young Adults. It’s never too early to plan for your further education in September of 2019. Do you know that both Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford and Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg offer full tuition assistance? Check out the Sheep & Goats MDS Service Scholarship/Bursary at each of the schools’ Financial Aid page.
