Prayer & Praise

~ A special welcome to Jon & Natalie Neudorf. We are grateful for your willingness to participate in our worship service. We want to wish you much inspiration and renewed energy as you connect with family and many contacts during your stay in Canada. God’s blessings as you continue to seek God’s guidance in your continued ministry.

~ We continue to offer our prayer support for Tenley Falk and her family, as she begins the maintenance phase of her treatment. This will continue until Spring 2018. It is a lengthy road for which we pray ongoing courage and trust in the God who has promised to be with us always. Updates can be found at: http://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com 

~ We want to acknowledge the passing of Mary Klassen, 96, of Winkler, grandmother of Karla & Garry Fehr, on September 14, 2016. We trust that you as a family will cherish the many memories and continue to be upheld by the faithfulness of our God.

~ Tina Neufeld, aunt of Walter & Marilyn Dyck, Erica & Dave Rempel and Rudy & Kathy Franz, passed away last Saturday, September 17. We gather together on Friday, September 23, 2016 to formally say farewell and lay her body to rest. We are grateful for a life lived with exuberant faith in her Lord and Savior.

~The funeral for Abram H Klassen, grandfather of Janel & Michael Peters, was held on September 15. We trust that you also as a family will experience God’s continued comfort as you continue on the journey of life without this reference point in your lives.

~Kendra Fehr left this past week for her YWAM Discipleship Training School placement in the San Diego region of California. She will be entering a three month period of study followed by two months of service in a yet undetermined location. ~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Susan Janzen, Trudy Harms, Helen Fehr, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel.

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico; Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, (Home now for the month of September)  Andrea Fehr with YWAM in Hawai’i (Returning in the middle of October)

Prayer for the Week:

O Lord God, who has called us your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus the Christ our Lord. Amen.

~Fall MCC Meeting September 26th at 2:00 p.m. at the Seniors Center in Altona. There will be an update on the building expansion as well as a report by Teen Challenge. Coffee and cookies to follow. Everyone welcome!

~ MCI continues its important search for good candidates for the position of Male Residence Staff for the current school year. This is a full time position, for men with dynamic faith, gifts of leadership and an interest to serve high school students in an exciting living & learning community. Interest and experience in coaching & mentoring young people are key assets. ~ The Kiev Symphony Orchestra & chorus is bringing “A Beautiful Savior Concert” to the Winkler Mennonite Church on Monday, September 26, 2016 @ 7:00pm. The program includes a variety of sacred classics, hymns, and spirituals, instrumental, acapella and stories of God’s grace. Admission: An offering will be taken for music mission Ukraine Canada and ministries to widows, orphans, and victims of war in Ukraine. All are welcome.

~ You are invited to a concert featuring a Southern Gospel Quartet from North Carolina at Buhler Hall in Gretna for one performance, on Saturday, October 8, at 7 pm.  Come, enjoy great music and good testimonies from a group of good Christian men and entertainers.  They are the Lumber River Quartet.  Admission is free and offerings are gratefully accepted.

~ Evening Courses: CMU offers a number of evening courses as part of its undergraduate curriculum. These courses are available for audit or credit to students not enrolled in a full time program. ~ Xplore: Keep Thinking: CMU Χplore offers courses that investigate dimensions of the Christian faith, our world, and life in it. All without any assignments or examinations! Classes run on Thursday mornings for 6 weeks, beginning October 6, and are held at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler. Courses include Immigrants and Refugees, Then & Now: A Common Story? with Kevin Drudge (former Pastor, Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Winkler) and guests. For further information see cmu.ca/xplore.

~ Portable CMU: Canadian Mennonite University offers a wide variety of short courses and workshops on a range of topics to resource congregations in their local communities. Note that the subsidy CMU provides has been significantly increased and new topics are offered.
