~ A Special welcome to Bill and Ann Peckham who are making a presentation regarding Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda during our Sunday school hour in the church basement. Thank you for your willingness to be involved in this way. May God’s blessings go with you in your continued ministry.
~ A special welcome also to Carson Hoy, who is a volunteer public relations personnel for Union Gospel Mission in Winnipeg. Thank you also for your message to us and may God’s blessings go with you in your continued ministry.
~ All of us are invited to a Church Appreciation meal which will be served by the Youth and Young adults in the basement, following the worship service.
~ It’s that time of year again! Clubs is right around the corner. Once again we are looking for leaders. We plan to start in November. Clubs is not a big commitment since it’s only every Wednesday. ~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico, Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, Andrea Fehr who is home working on VISA requirements before she can head back to Hawai’i, and Tyler Loewen in Cambodia with MCC.

~ Church Council has decided to have the Fall Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 11, 2018 after a noon meal. Reports from all committees should be in by October 21, 2018. If you are unsure of whether or not you need to write a report, either email or call the office. Hedy would like to have the report books ready for Sunday, November 4, 2018.
~ Rehearsal for the men’s group who are participating in the Songs of Praise Worship Service on Sunday, October 7, takes place following the noon meal. We will take some time today as well as next Sunday to get familiar with our music.
~ During our Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, September 30 we would like to give some time for sharing of items from the congregation. What are you grateful for? How have you sensed God’s leading during the past year? What would be important to share which would be an encouragement to the rest of the congregation? This can be done in the form of scripture verses, song, instrumental; story or whatever way you feel led to share. We are all invited to stay for a noon meal following the worship service.
~ “We are cleaning up the library shelves to make room for new books. Check out the table in the foyer for old gems to add to your own library. Any donations are accepted in the jar on the table.”

~ On Sunday, September 23, Bill & Ann Peckham from Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda will be in our midst during the Sunday school hour. They have a slide presentation as well as time for questions and answers. We would extend an invitation for any Sunday school classes, as well as others to join us in the basement for sharing, listening and prayer.
BMC Mexico Missions Trip 2018-2019:

Please pray and consider joining the missions team headed to San Carlos, Mexico over the Christmas break. We are looking for people who are willing to lend their skills and abilities in order to encourage various ministries in Mexico. There will be opportunity to do some painting, woodworking and carpentry, yard maintenance and clean up, Children’s ministry, perhaps some evangelism and handing out food hampers, as well as spending some time visiting with and encouraging the staff at Centro Educativo Cristiano and a few other local ministries. We plan to possibly spend some time in the community of Santa Maria where we poured a concrete pad during our last visit in order to help them with continuing work on their church building, as well as Arizpe in the Mountains where Benny who came to speak with us last summer is located. This will be a trip worth more than the money you pay to go. Pray about whether the Lord is asking you to be a part of this mission.

In light of the recent set up of the Spirit of the Buffalo Camp just outside Gretna, we have invited Kerry to come speak with us about the importance of reconciliation and how it connects with our faith as well as answer any questions we might have. ~The Eastview Place Fall Bazaar will be held on Thursday, October 4 from 1:30 – 3:30. Join us for an afternoon of coffee and dainties, the best bake sale in Altona, and enter the raffles for wonderful prizes from local businesses and our draw for a quilt, spa package and clothing rack. All proceeds go to improving the audio and video equipment for the residents at Eastview Place. We hope to see you there! Any finished craft items, plants, preserves and jams you would like to donate to the Bazaar would be greatly appreciated as well. Donated goods should be dropped off at the East entrance on the morning of the Bazaar.
~ The Fall Meeting for the Altona MCC Gift and Thrift Shop will take place on Monday, September 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the Altona Senior Center. John Bergman, the guest speaker will be reporting on work in Mexico. Everyone is welcome.

Being a church event, this class is expected to painlessly mold you into the perfect parents you’ve always expected yourself to be, effortlessly producing the perfect kids you’ve always dreamed of having in this perfect world….in 3 easy steps! J Right. So…. No easy steps, no perfect world or perfect people… just a group of us, exploring together what being Mom or Dad to these little people God entrusted to us means, what God’s Word says about it, encouraging each other. The class will include videos with various speakers, discussions, a tips table, snacks, etc. and will be led by Char Klassen.

~ Wanting to bless the young parents in our church, the education committee is planning to put childcare in place for the parents wanting to attend the parenting class beginning October 14.
Men and women of any age, if you enjoy holding babies (!), playing with small children, or just want to encourage the young parents in this way, Glenda Fehr would love to hear from you. Some people have already said they’d like to help out here, but hoping for many more.
It’s only for an hour. Help out for 1 Sunday, a few, or all of the 8 Sundays. It’s sure to be a ton of fun!

~ The funeral for Rita Driedger (nee Schroeder), was held on Saturday, September 15 at the Altona Sommerfeld Mennonite Church. Rita is the mother of Tammy & Enrique Loewen of Rosetown, and grandmother of Peyton Loewen. We want to wish the family God’s comfort and peace during this significant milestone of their lives.

~ Welcome to our annual Promotion Sunday Worship Service. A special welcome to our speaker, Peter G Dyck, from Boissevain, grandfather to Walter & Marilyn and Dave & Erica’s children. Thank you to our superintendents, Marilyn Dyck & Ingrid Friesen for planning this service. Thank you to our Sunday school teachers for your continued dedication and commitment to teaching God’s word and living by example.
~ We as a congregation have been blessed with the birth of new life in our midst. On Wednesday, August 22, Sara Gerling welcomed a son, Ethan David, into the family. He is a brother for Jack Christian. Then on Tuesday, September 4, Justin & Karissa Falk, welcomed a daughter, Blakely Ryan, into their family. She is a sister for Presley & Nixon and another granddaughter for Ken & Eleanor Fehr. Also on Tuesday, September 4, Eric & Jessica Giesbrecht, welcomed their first child, a son, James Torin, into their family. Grandparents are Joe & Janet Giesbrecht. ~ Margaret Klassen, who continues to recover from her injuries and is grateful for being able to feel much better.
~ Kelly Fehr is also grateful for an easing of the pain she has experienced. She is currently able to be at home. The doctors still have not found the source of what has been causing all the discomfort.

They have asked if a men’s group would be able to present some male choir selections as part of this service. If there are men willing and able to join together in song for that Sunday, plus rehearsal time talk to Pastor Rudy. It is good to give to our God the praise that is his. Are you interested in sharing your musical gifts? We are looking for people willing to play offertory & prelude, special music, etc.

~ On Sunday, September 23, Bill & Ann Peckham from Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda will be in our midst during the Sunday school hour. BMC Mexico Missions Trip 2018-2019:

Please pray and consider joining the missions team headed to San Carlos, Mexico over the Christmas break. We are looking for people who are willing to lend their skills and abilities in order to encourage various ministries in Mexico. There will be opportunity to do some painting, woodworking and carpentry, yard maintenance and clean up, Children’s ministry, perhaps some evangelism and handing out food hampers, as well as spending some time visiting with and encouraging the staff at Centro Educativo Cristiano and a few other local ministries. We plan to possibly spend some time in the community of Santa Maria where we poured a concrete pad during our last visit in order to help them with continuing work on their church building, as well as Arizpe in the Mountains where Benny who came to speak with us last summer is located. This will be a trip worth more than the money you pay to go. Pray about whether the Lord is asking you to be a part of this mission.

~ Margaret Klassen, who fell in July and is still experiencing pain from a broken tail bone. Please pray for healing.
~ Please pray for Adria Wiebe, 5-year-old niece of Jonathan and Melissa (Penner) Wiebe. Adria has cancer, and is experiencing many complications and setbacks in treatment. Please pray for complete healing for Adria, for her pain to be greatly reduced, and for wisdom and guidance for her doctors and caregivers. Pray also for Adria’s parents, Norman and Shelley (from Plum Coulee), that they will be free of illness so that they can be with her in hospital, for rest and for strength.
~ Continue to pray for Kelly Fehr, she is improving at home.
~ Andrea Fehr is planning to head back to Kona, Hawai’i to work with Respect the Corners Crossfit Ministry as well as hoping to be more involved with YWAM Discipleship Training Schools. She plans to leave September 6th. Pray for provision and God’s grace and peace with her as she goes.

~ On Sunday, September 9 we will celebrate Promotion Sunday with an outdoor worship service at 10:30 am. In keeping with our tradition of having a grandparent of one of our graduates as guest speaker, Peter G. Dyck of Boissevain (grandfather of Josh) will share with us. Everyone is warmly welcome to stay for lunch and visiting through the afternoon. A bouncy house will be on the grounds for the children. Please bring:

– A salad, veggies, or an ice cream topping for the meal
Please note: Students will remain in their current Sunday School classes until after Promotion Sunday. Our new class of 3-year-old students will begin Sunday School on September 16.

~ The funeral service for Peter E Hildebrandt, who passed away on August 22, 2018, will be held on Sunday, August 26 in the Blumenort Mennonite Church at 2:30 pm. May you as a family feel the presence of God in this season of mourning, and may you be drawn closer to Him.

~ Pray for Kelly Fehr. She has been in Boundary Trails for the past 3 weeks with symptoms of pain as well as nausea. She has undergone many tests, which have come back negative. Pray that God would grant peace and relief from pain, as well as answers as to what is wrong and how to treat it. Pray for her parents and family as they are busy with harvest and work and are unable to be with her all the time while she is in hospital.

~ On Sunday, September 9 we will celebrate Promotion Sunday with an outdoor worship service at 10:30 am. In keeping with our tradition of having a grandparent of one of our graduates as guest speaker, Peter G. Dyck of Boissevain (grandfather of Josh) will share with us. Everyone is warmly welcome to stay for lunch and visiting through the afternoon. A bouncy house will be on the grounds for the children. Please bring:
– Lawn chairs
– A salad, veggies, or an ice cream topping for the meal
Please note: Students will remain in their current Sunday School classes until after Promotion Sunday. Our new class of 3-year-old students will begin Sunday School on September 16.

Please pray and consider joining the missions team headed to San Carlos, Mexico over the Christmas break. We are looking for people who are willing to lend their skills and abilities in order to encourage various ministries in Mexico. There will be opportunity to do some painting, woodworking and carpentry, yard maintenance and clean up, Children’s ministry, perhaps some evangelism and handing out food hampers, as well as spending some time visiting with and encouraging the staff at Centro Educativo Cristiano and a few other local ministries. We plan to possibly spend some time in the community of Santa Maria where we poured a concrete pad during our last visit in order to help them with continuing work on their church building, as well as Arizpe in the Mountains where Benny who came to speak with us last summer is located. This will be a trip worth more than the money you pay to go. Pray about whether the Lord is asking you to be a part of this mission.
