Verse of the Week:

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion. Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem, Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt the foal of a donkey.

Prayer & Praise

~ Welcome to our Palm Sunday Worship Service.  We want to commemorate the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, the rejoicing and praising of the disciples and the gathered crowd.  “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord.”

~ The funeral for Helen Redekopp, sister of Paul J & Elizabeth Peters was held on Friday, March 23, 2018. She is the aunt of Ray & Corinne, Eric & Elvina, and Norm.  The family is grateful for Helen’s dedication to her faith, her family and her church community.  May you continue to experience the Good Shepherd’s presence and comfort in all of your experiences in life.

~ We are invited to come and join together in worship on Good Friday, March 30 at 10: 30 am.  We want to recall those last hours of the life of our Lord.  We will also commemorate communion together on that morning.  Lett us come, recognizing the extent to which evil will go to extinguish the light.  Let us come and participate so we may anticipate more fully the light of the empty tomb on Easter morning.

~ Reminders of prayer items for this week:

– Nettie Ginter is nearing the end of her scheduled radiation treatments.

Tenley Falk and her family are anticipating the end date (March 31) for her maintenance schedule of treatments.  After this, once a month checkups will be required.  We trust that this will be a welcome change to the routine of the past 2 years.

Tim Wiebe is continuing his regular treatment of chemotherapy.

Harv Thiessen continues to take small steps of improvement.  Pray for Harv to be able to be understood by the family and nurses.  This recovery has been compared to a marathon, not a race.  Pray for patience and strength.

Austin Penner continues his stay at the Agassiz Youth Center in Portage la Prairie, and values our prayer support.

~ Shania Ginter, Josh Dyck and Cynthia Krahn left this past Thursday with the SOAR Heartland team.  They will be involved in various ministries until March 31.  We pray for energy, courage, an awareness of God’s presence and work in their own lives and in the lives of those they come into contact with during this time. May your ministry be blessed.

~ Another year of clubs has come to an end, and we feel so blessed. We’ve enjoyed hosting, teaching and getting to know, while sharing Jesus, to 26 young children. So fantastic!
I’d like to thank all those who provided us with cookies, they were always appreciated. I’d also like to acknowledge and thank the terrific leaders who took time to teach these young minds about God’s word, especially those who were subs and those who jumped in mid-year and preserved my sanity. And a special thanks to Robyn and Rachelle for sharing their gift of crafting with us.  All in all a great year for the clubs program.
Ang D

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, Jake Rempel, Mary Klassen, and Peter E. Hildebrandt

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico, Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, Andrea Fehr who is home working on VISA requirements before she can head back to Hawai’i, and Tyler Loewen in Cambodia with MCC.

Prayer for the Week:

O God, we are like the people of Jerusalem so long ago.  We are hungry for a hero.  We crave some glimpse of greatness.  We are starved for the spectacular.  We are gathered here like those who watched the Passion-Parade in Jerusalem; craning our necks to catch a glimpse of our Messiah.  As we wait here for the Savior to come, let us not be disappointed when the special One appears even though we are certain to be surprised; and give us courage to follow where the One on the donkey might lead us. Amen.

~ On Sunday, April 15, we as a congregation would like to recognize the end of current cancer treatments for Tenley Falk and Nettie Ginter.  The larger context for our service would center on the faithfulness of God’s ongoing presence with us and a sense of thanksgiving for allowing these families to reach the end of what has been a life changing journey.  It is important to give thanks to God.  After the service, we want to invite the congregation to celebrate around the tables, sharing a noon meal, which will include elements of Tenley’s favorite foods.  We invite your participation.

After Checking the calendar it was discovered that the ministerial and deacons have scheduled a noon meal on Sunday,  May 6.  Is it possible to reschedule the Ministerial meeting to Sunday, April 29?  Please check with Rudy if this is not workable.

Lenten Memory Passage – John 20: 1 – 8

1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen laying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.

Prayer & Praise

~ Following our worship service we are invited to a youth lunch noon meal.  The funds raised will be used to support SOAR Heartland and other youth projects.  All are welcome to stay for lunch.

~ We trust that the Mission Exposure experience for Morgan Fehr and her team was a growing and learning encounter.  As they reflect on what was planned and done we pray that significant learnings about themselves and God will be life giving.

~ Let us continue to remember in prayer those whom we mention weekly:

– Let us keep Alfred (Fred) Ens and his family in our prayers. He has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and has been undergoing many tests and appointments. He recently has had some liver issues as well. Pray that God would bring clarity and comfort to their family’s journey and healing to his body.

– Nettie Ginter as she continues her radiation treatments.

Tenley Falk as she undergoes her maintenance schedule of appointments and treatments

Tim Wiebe as he continues to monitor the results of his treatments

Austin Penner who continues his stay at the Agassiz Youth Center in Portage la Prairie.

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, Jake Rempel, Mary Klassen, and Peter E. Hildebrandt

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico, Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, and Tyler Loewen in Cambodia with MCC.

Prayer for the Week:

In this Lenten season, O God, we come before you, asking for courage to open our eyes.  We want to see ourselves as you see us – the empty and barren places, the half-hearted struggles, the faint stirrings of new life.  We come, trusting your grace, waiting for your illuminating word, longing for your healing light.  Do not let us be blind to your presence.  Shine upon us, O God, and make our paths clear, for we pray in the name of Jesus.      Amen.
