Prayer & Praise

~ This Sunday marks the beginning of Lent, the forty day period of time in which we remember the journey of Jesus to Jerusalem and the cross.  It is a time of reflection, repentance and anticipation of the resurrection.

~ Morgan Fehr is in the midst of her Mission Exposure with Steinbach Bible College. Along with other students the group will be spending one week of ministry in Thicket Portage, a small First Nation south of Thompson. This group values our prayers on their behalf during this time.

~ Armin & I would like to express our gratitude for the care and concern shown to us during my recovering from a broken foot on December 10, 2017.  Thanks for all the meals, calls, visits and prayers.  It is indeed a blessing to be part of this caring Church Family.  With sincere thanks.  Caroline Ens

~ Nettie Ginter has begun her six week schedule of radiation treatments this past Tuesday, February 13.  We trust that you and your family will continue to know and experience God’s continued presence.

~ Tenley Falk and Tim Wiebe and their families are also ones that we remember in our thoughts and prayers.  We come boldly to the throne of grace to intercede on behalf of each other.

~ We also remember Austin Penner and his family as he continues his stay at the Agassiz Youth Center in Portage la Prairie.  We pray for continued perseverance, well-being and trust in Jesus the Christ.

~ A newsletter is on the bulletin board from Murray & Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, Jake Rempel, Mary Klassen, and Peter E. Hildebrandt

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico, Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, Andrea Fehr who is home working on VISA requirements before she can head back to Hawai’i, and Tyler Loewen in Cambodia with MCC.

Prayer for the Week:

Into our bottomless anxiety, into our fearful bewilderment, our fretful minds and aching hearts, O Lord, you come to rebuild and repair and restore.  You walk right into our hand-wringing and with calming serenity your breathe peace.   Soak your song of hope into our dust dry lives and free us to endless love and calmness of heart through Jesus the Christ, our Lord and Saviour.   Amen.

Lenten Memory Passage – John 20: 1 – 8

1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen laying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.

Prayer & Praise

~ John & Melissa Wiebe have received permanent guardianship of a girl, named Wynter Angel.  They are excited about this addition to their family.  We as a congregation want to welcome Wynter into our midst and we pray for God’s blessings as John & Melissa accept the responsibilities of parenthood.

~ From February 14 -21, 2018, Morgan Fehr will be going to Northern Manitoba on a Mission Exposure with Steinbach Bible College.  This mission trip is part of the program of study and she will be serving with a group of other students in a community (yet to be determined) for one week.  She would value our prayers on her behalf as well as for the team while they prepare and while they are on assignment.

~ Nettie Ginter has just completed her last round of chemotherapy and will likely begin six weeks of radiation treatments in Winnipeg at the beginning of February.   We want to continue to remember Nettie and her family in our prayers as well as Tenley Falk and Tim Wiebe and their families.  Austin Penner also values our continued prayer support during his stay at the Agassiz Youth Centre in Portage la Prairie.  Updates for Tenley can be found at: www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel, Mary Klassen in the Rock Lake Personal Care Home in Pilot Mound, and Peter E Hildebrandt, who moved into room 103 in the Apartments at the Gardens on Tenth (Formerly known as the Ebenezer apartments).

~ We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico; Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea; Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda; Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM; and Andrea Fehr working with YWAM in Hawai’i; and Tyler Loewen in Cambodia with MCC.

Prayer for the Week:

Father in Heaven, form in us the likeness of Your Son and deepen His life within us.  Send us as witnesses of gospel joy into a world of fragile peace and broken promise; and touch the hearts of all with Your love that they in turn may love one another. Amen.
