Verse of the Week:

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the lands.  Serve the Lord with gladness; come into His presence with singing.  Know that the Lord is God.  It is He that made us and we are His.  We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.  Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.  Give thanks to Him. Bless His name.  For the Lord is good, His steadfast love endures forever and His faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 100

Prayer & Praise

~ Welcome to our annual Thanksgiving Worship service.  It is right and good to remember and give thanks to the Lord our God for all the ways that our needs are met; for a bountiful harvest and for the personal relationship we are able to have with Jesus the Christ.  As the scriptures command, let us not forget the Lord our God.  To be thankful enables us to remember.

~ Tim Wiebe has now completed his initial six weeks of chemo and radiation treatments. Discussions are underway about what needs to happen next. Nettie Ginter began her treatments on Wednesday, September 27. Tenley Falk also continues the maintenance phase of her treatments.  We are reminded of how precious life is that really it is only a fragile cord that enables us to continue living.  All of us are dependent on the grace and mercy of our Lord who gives to us our very breath and daily bread.  Updates can be found at: htttp://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ Congratulations to Ryan & Stacy (nee Falk) Hamm on the birth of a daughter, Katelyn Nicole, on Monday, September 25, 2017.  Proud first time grandparents are John G & Esther Falk.  We want to wish these families God’s blessings and much joy as they welcome this child into their hearts and homes.

~ Thursday, October 5 is the next date for our monthly 24 hour prayer vigil for Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda.  Let us continue to offer our prayers of support and encouragement.

~ We are also grateful for continued good news from places around the globe.  For example, on September 16, 2017, the Argentina Mennonite Church celebrated its 100th anniversary.  With 50 congregations, Argentina Mennonite Church has more than 3000 members,  They are in the process of planting an additional 30 churches, while continuing contacts in other communities.  They support three mission programs and 26 church planting missionaries, including a family who serves with the indigenous evangelical churches in the Chaco.

~ Despite the fact that the immediate threat from hurricanes, earthquakes and forest fires has subsided, the continued toll of the devastation on the lives of people is substantial.  We are reminded also of the human catastrophe unfolding as thousands of people are fleeing Myanmar and making their way to the borders of Bangladesh.  This tragedy has been devastating for so many who have left everything to escape the persecution.  We pray for an end to hostilities, for humanitarian aid to reach a desperate people, for continued care and compassion for those who are totally dependent on others for their very survival.

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel.  We also want to remember Mary Klassen in BTHC and Peter E Hildebrandt who are dealing with health issues.

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico; Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM,  and Andrea Fehr with YWAM in Hawai’i

Prayer for the Week:

Lord you have given me so much.  I ask for one more thing, a grateful heart.  Amen.

~ Tim Wiebe has now completed his fifth of six weeks of chemo and radiation treatments.  Nettie Ginter will begin her treatments on Wednesday, September 27.  We are grateful that Tenley Falk has been able to attend school on a regular basis so far this fall.  May God continue to guide and uphold those experiencing immediate health issues.  May you and your families be encouraged by the reality of God as our good Shepherd. Updates can be found at: htttp://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ Congratulations to Paul & Carianne Peters on the birth of a son, Simon Alexander Paul, on Thursday, September 21, 2017.  Proud grandparents are Ray & Corinne Peters.  This is the third great grandson for Paul J & Elizabeth Peters.  We want to wish these families much joy as they welcome a new arrival into their lives, hearts and homes.

~ We are reminded of the continued devastation that this hurricane season is causing, as well as the massive devastation of the earthquakes in Mexico and the continued violence and unrest in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and those who have been affected by the forest fires in Canada and the northwestern US. We continue to pray for shelter, resources of people and material to help restore the destruction.  We also pray that God’s will of reconciliation and peace replace violence and the continued devaluing of people’s lives.

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel. We also want to remember Mary Klassen in BTHC and Peter E Hildebrandt who are dealing with health issues.

Prayer for the Week:

God of heaven and Lord of earth, sovereign over the waters, provider of food for all that live. You are the Rock of Ages, higher than the surging waters.  You are the Rock of Compassion, justice and the ability to abide with us.  Move us to be more like You in our neighborliness.  Move us so that we may finally stand on Solid Rock, no more sinking sand.  Hear our resolve, heal our unresolved that we may finish in sure trust and in glad obedience.  In the strong name of Jesus we pray. Amen

~ We are grateful for the opportunity to have been able to have had our Sunday school Celebration Sunday Worship Service outside on such a beautiful day last Sunday.  Thank you again for all those involved in planning and being involved in the service.  Thank you also to all those who brought food to share.

~ Violence and unrest continues in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Mennonite churches have been also affected and Christians have been displaced and killed.  Also, continued cleanup continues for all those affected by recent hurricanes in the Caribbean and the United States, as they experience great upheaval, loss of life and forced displacement.  We remember also the many lives affected by the devastating consequences of recent hurricanes in the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States; those affected by forest fires in Montana, Western Canada and in Northern Manitoba. Widespread destruction will take a long time to repair.  We pray for shelter, resources of people and material to help restore all the destruction.  We pray that God’s will of reconciliation and peace will replace violence and the continued devaluing of people’s lives.

Prayer for the Week:

God, sovereign and generous, who commands the rise and fall of the nations, who calls and has chosen many peoples, who weeps when they harm each other, who challenges all cultures with Your will for well-being, who draws close to the powerless and surprises with power shown in weakness.  You are the One whom we praise in astonishment, we adore in gladness, we thank in gratitude, for who You are, for what You do, for how You hope.  Look with mercy on us this day, on churches, on communities and cities, on families where we strive to do Your will.  Guide our obedience now and always.  Amen

Prayer & Praise

~ Welcome to our Sunday school Celebration Sunday.  We are grateful for teachers, students, superintendents, music and worship leaders who have committed themselves to the discipline of studying, teaching and learning.  Above all, we are grateful that we have a most amazing story to share about God’s love for each and every one.

~ Tim Wiebe has completed his third week of chemo and radiation treatments.  Nettie Ginter will begin her treatments at the end of September.  We pray for patience and peace of mind as these people make their journey and we pray for much courage for their families as well.

~ We trust that this first week of back to school has been a positive experience for all students and teachers.  We trust that this would be true for Tenley Falk as well.  May the routine of school not be  overwhelming, but a safe and nurturing environment.  Updates can be found at: htttp://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ We Continue to remember our brothers and sisters in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as they experience great upheaval, loss of life and forced displacement.  We remember also the many lives affected by the devastating consequences of recent hurricanes in the Caribbean and the United States.  Many have lost their homes and even the lives of loved ones.

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel.

Grant Lord, to all who study and those who teach them, the grace to love that which is worth loving, to know that which is worth knowing, to value what is most precious to You, and to reject what is not in keeping with Your will and purpose.  Give them a true sense of judgment, and the wisdom to see beneath the surface of things.  Above all, may they search out and do what is pleasing to You, through Jesus the Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

Prayer & Praise

~ This week marks the return to the classroom for many students and teachers.  For some this is fairly routine, for others it represents something very new and different.  We trust that our God will enable all of you to be sustained throughout this transition.  May you be blessed by another year of growth and learning.

~ We continue our prayer support for Tim Wiebe who has completed his second week of chemo and radiation.  We remember also, Nettie Ginter who is about to begin her round of treatments.  For these people and their families we pray for God’s protection, healing and the sustaining power of His continued presence.

~ We pray for Tenley Falk and her family, for the beginning of another school year in the midst of continued treatments. May you also know yourselves to be sustained by the continued presence of our Lord.  Updates can be found at: htttp://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ Tuesday, September 5 is the date for our monthly 24 hour prayer vigil for Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda.  Thank you for your continued prayer support for this important outreach and ministry in the lives of people needing food, lodging, education, family and an active demonstration of the love of God.

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel.

~ We also continue to remember out brothers and sisters around the world who face persecution, upheaval and violence.  Most recently the Congo has experienced much chaos with many people being killed and over a million displaced.  We pray that an end to the political turmoil would become a reality and that those responsible for all the bloodshed would once again lay down their weapons.

Prayer for the Week:

Gracious God, we hear You calling.  You have shown us hope and You offer us courage.  We come to You as people who long to walk Your pathways of grace and love.  However, God, at times we get discouraged by our living, afraid of difficult experiences, despairing of the challenges that lie ahead.  We become weary.  Care for us on our journey, God.  Help us to know that Your love is always there to surround and sustain us.  Breathe Your holy calm into our sometimes road weary lives so we may continue to be transformed to be Your people.  Amen.

Prayer & Praise

~ We are grateful for the opportunity of harvest.  From garden produce, fruit from the trees, grain from the fields, we give thanks to God for giving the increase.  For all who are harvesting we pray for safety, patience and perseverance.

~ Tim Wiebe began his treatments this past Monday.  Also, Nettie Ginter is expecting to begin her follow up treatments shortly.  We pray for peace of mind for these people and their families during this time of stress and uncertainty.

~ We continue to uphold Tenley Falk and her family during this maintenance phase of treatments.  Despite not having to visit the emergency unit at the hospital as often, there is still room for continued anxiety and emotional fatigue to mark their influence.  May our Lord, the source of our calm in the midst of the storm, grant reassurance and peace of mind.  Updates can be found at: htttp://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com

~ We recognize that the beginning of another school year is just around the corner and we want to acknowledge all the preparations students and teachers are making to prepare themselves.  We want to wish you well and God’s blessings in anticipation of another year of growth and learning.

Prayer for the week:  (From Psalm 31:1-2, 5)

To you, O Lord, I come for refuge, do not let me be put to shame, deliver me in Your righteousness, incline Your ear to me, make haste to help me, for You are my strong rock and my fortress.   Into Your hand I commit my spirit, for You have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.  Amen.

~ We continue to uphold in our prayers, our brothers and sisters, around the globe, who are experiencing violence and persecution, especially in the Congo.  As was mentioned last Sunday, thousands of people have been killed, over 40 mass graves have been discovered, and roughly 1.4 million people have been displaced, including 850,000 children.  In the midst of such destruction and violence we continue to pray for God’s peace to reign so there will be a resolution to the chaos.
