Pentecost Sunday
June 4, 2017
Verse of the week:
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributed and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2: 1-4

Prayer & Praise
~ On this Pentecost Sunday we are reminded of how the Spirit of God moves among us, binding us in covenant with faithful people of every time and place, how the Spirit moves within us, empowering us to proclaim the gospel to all people and how the Spirit moves through us, making us channels of God’s love. We are grateful for the Spirit of the Living God made known to us in Jesus the Christ.
~ Congratulations and God’s blessings to Cody Fehr and Kelsey Loewen, who were married on Saturday, June 3. We trust that you will experience much joy as you live out your commitment to one another in the context of marriage. May God uphold and guide you on your journey.
~ The regular monthly appointments for Tenley Falk took place this past week along with another scheduled treatment of steroids. We trust that this has not been an overwhelming week. We continue to remember you and your family in our prayers. Updates can be found at htttp://www.tenleysjourney.wordpress.com
~ Charlotte Klassen has continued her stay at the Boundary Trails Health Center in an effort to get the pain to some kind of a manageable level. She is grateful for the prayer support, visits and food sent to her home. She continues to rely on the faithfulness of her Lord and Savior through all the ups and downs of these past weeks.
~ Monday, June 5 marks the date for our monthly 24 hour prayer vigil for Eagles wings Children’s village in Uganda. Let us pray for these leaders, the students and their families as they seek to be faithful to the God given opportunities of service, study and learning.
~ Pray for the thousands of Mennonites in the Democratic Republic of Congo who have gone into hiding to escape the violence that has claimed hundreds of lives. Pray that God would provide life’s necessities for those who have fled their homes, for stable national leadership and for an end to the fighting.
This morning we are grateful that Esther Zacharias, Jake Friesen and Walter Dyck have all agreed to serve an additional term of five years as lay ministers. We appreciate your prayerful consideration of this call, your willingness to serve and we want to affirm your decision as a congregation during our worship service.
~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Trudy Harms, Helen Janzen, and Jake Rempel.
~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico; Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, and Andrea Fehr with YWAM in Hawai’i
Prayer for the Week:
(Prayer of St Augustine)
Breathe in us, Holy Spirit, that we may think what is holy. Move us, Holy Spirit, that we may do what is holy. Attract us Holy Spirit, that we may love what is holy. Strengthen us, Holy Spirit, that we may guard what is holy. Guard us, Holy Spirit, that we may keep what is holy. Amen.
