Prayer & Praise

~ Today is the Global Day of Prayer to End Hunger. We join churches around the world uniting in prayer for those who are hungry. Hunger in South Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Yemen—the United Nations says the world is facing the largest humanitarian crisis since 1945. More than four million people across four countries are facing starvation and famine. Meanwhile, the needs in Syria continue. Faced with these needs, we can be easily overwhelmed. Let us raise our voices to God, our hope and Saviour. (From foodgrainsbank.ca)

~ God’s blessings to Nick Driedger & Nikki Rempel as they continue to make preparations for their upcoming wedding on Saturday, June 16, 2018.  May you experience much joy as you enter into the covenant of marriage.

~ Congratulations to Harley Dyck on graduating with a Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Manitoba this past week. May God bless you as you continue to use your gifts to build His Kingdom.

~ We grieve with the family of Linda Penner, on the loss of her mother, Susie Bergen, who slipped away peacefully in the afternoon on June 7, 2018.  We grieve but not as those without hope, for we know God watches over us and we hope to meet again.  Continue in prayer for all in the family.

Reminders of prayer items for this week:

~ Continue in prayer for Tenley Falk and family, and Nettie Ginter and family, Tim Wiebe and family as they continue to deal with the after effects of treatments and regular checkups.

Austin Penner as he prepares to make a transition from the Agassiz Youth Centre in Portage la Prairie, on June 29, 2018.

Harv Thiessen as he continues his physiotherapy program at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg.  Your prayers are appreciated.

Prayer for the Week:

Loving God, we bring before You the people of Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, and North East Nigeria, who are currently experiencing famine and personal hardship.  We do not know them personally, but we share a common bond as human beings, created in Your image. Our hearts go out to them, as many find themselves in desperate circumstances – without food, without shelter, without hope.  There seems to be so little that we can do for them.  The pictures on the new are difficult to watch, and we’d often rather look away.  But You have called us to be Your hands and feet in our world; to speak and act for those who cannot speak and act for themselves.  So we pray that Your Holy Spirit would prompt us to action.  Give us generous hearts, to share freely with those who have nothing.  Give us courage to speak on their behalf to those who are shaping our country’s response.  Give us perseverance, to continue to pray fervently for their welfare.  Grant us Your mercy, God, as we seek to live out our calling as Your disciples.  We pray this in Jesus’ name.

Prayer & Praise

~Welcome to this service of Baptism & Communion.  We are grateful for the gift of God’s Holy Spirit and for the continued ministry of this Holy Spirit in the lives of individuals and the churches of our world.  We also want to affirm and celebrate the decision of Tyson Fehr, Jesse Miller, Mark Falk, Lauren Fehr, Joshua Dyck and Heidi Miller to be baptized upon the public confession of their faith.  We want to continue to uphold one another through prayer and to encourage each other to live up to the commitment we have made in baptism.

Prayer for the Week:

We call upon your name, Lord, with a sense of expectation.  We know that like the early church, we may be amazed or perplexed at the power of the Holy Spirit moving in and upon us when we are all together in this place.  And so, as we take a deep breath, Your breath, prepare us for what You would have us receive.  In the name of Jesus, the Glorified One, we pray.  Amen
