~ For our deacon elections this year we needed to fill one position for another three year term. Jake & Agatha Falk agreed to a one year term last year. This was to fill a vacancy in the number of deacons as well as to get our rotation for nominations back on track. After prayerful consideration they have agreed to an additional three year term. Thus for this year we will not be needing any further nominations. We thank them for their willingness to serve and would like to have a vote of affirmation for them next Sunday, December 9, 2018.

Prayer for the Week:
We remember Lord, the slenderness of the thread which separates life from death and the suddenness with which it can be broken. Help us also to remember that on both sides of that division we are surrounded by Your love. Persuade our hearts that when our loved ones die, neither we nor they are parted from You. In You may we find our peace and in You be united with them in the glorious body of Christ, who has burst the bonds of death and is alive for evermore, our Saviour and theirs for ever and ever. Amen.

~ Thank you from Hedy & John Falk for the many cards, hugs, flowers, meals and gifts in honor of our Mother, Anna Woelk, who passed a few weeks ago. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated.
~ Monday, November 5, marks the date for our monthly 24 hour prayer vigil for Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda. We also pray for continued health for Ann Peckham as she undergoes surgery and follow up treatments during their time in Canada.
~ We have been invited by a Christian family of the Eritrean Community of Winnipeg to be sponsors for 2 members of their extended family who are currently living as refugees in Sudan. These members are both couples one in their 20’s who have no children and the other in their 60’s whose children are living elsewhere in the world and would not be coming with them to Canada. What is our calling in response to this invitation? We need to be in agreement about whether we begin the process of affiliation or not. We would like to take time at our annual fall congregational meeting on November 11 to discuss this. More details will be forthcoming. We are invited to pray as we discern our response.
~ Jon & Natalie Neudorf are planning to return home from Thailand at the end of November, 2018. The work which they have begun in Chang Mai will be taken over by the local leadership. Prayer for the Week:
O God, our source of Strength, we seek courage to worship You with our whole selves, for to do so may change us. Move among and within us, shelter us when we fear the seeming emptiness of our silence. Fill us, when futility and frustration threaten to paralyze us, so that we may be living, loving hands and feet, instruments of Your Truth, Grace and Love. May we and our world today know moments of living with purpose, enthusiasm and courage and may such moments grow in glory to Your Name and Power. Amen.

~ Dear MDS Churches and MDS Congregational Contact Persons.
We would ask you to let young adults in your congregations know about an amazing bursary/scholarship that is available through Columbia Bible College CBC) in Abbotsford, BC and Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) in Winnipeg, MB. A donor has generously provided funding for full tuition assistance, when a student studying in church ministry related fields, serves with MDS for 8 weeks. It’s an amazing opportunity. Feel free to share the paragraph below in whatever manner works for your congregations. Young Adults. It’s never too early to plan for your further education in September of 2019. Do you know that both Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford and Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg offer full tuition assistance?
