Verse of the Week:

And they were bringing children to Him, that He might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them.  But when Jesus saw it He was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to Me, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God.  Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”  And He took them in His arms and blessed them.  Mark 10: 13 – 16

~ Welcome to our Parent/Child Dedication Service.  Those who are involved in this part of the service are: Sara Gerling with her 2 sons, Jack Christian & Ethan David; Eric & Jessica Giesbrecht, with their son, James Torin; John & Melissa Wiebe with their 2 daughters, Wynter Angel & Makayla Fern; Ryan & Jodi Friesen with their daughter, Charis Faith; Matthew & Lisa Krahn with their son, Grayson James.  We want to wish you God’s blessing as you commit yourselves to the task of being Christian parents to those who have been entrusted to you.

~ Bernie Kehler returned home this past Tuesday after his heart surgery.  He appreciates being at home as each day the pain is subsiding and his energy is slowly returning.

Dave Rempel continues to recover from his knee replacement surgery.  He was able to attend his first physiotherapy session this week.

~ We have been invited by a Christian family of the Eritrean Community of Winnipeg to be sponsors for 2 members of their extended family who are currently living as refugees in Sudan.  These members are both couples one in their 20’s who have no children and the other in their 60’s whose children are living elsewhere in the world and would not be coming with them to Canada.  What is our calling in response to this invitation?  We need to be in agreement about whether we begin the process of application or not.  We would like to take time at our annual fall congregational meeting on November 11 to discuss this.  More details will be forthcoming.  We are invited to pray as we discern our response.

~ Jon & Natalie Neudorf are planning to return home from Thailand at the end of November, 2018.  The work which they have begun in Chang Mai will be taken over by the local leadership.  Jon & Natalie are comfortable with the transition of ministry and are looking forward to reconnecting with family and friends.  We want to uphold them in our prayers during this time of transition and we praise God for their faithful ministry during these last 4 years.

~ Continue in prayer for Tenley Falk and family, and Nettie Ginter and family, Tim Wiebe and family as they continue to deal with the challenges of after effects of treatments.

~ Kelly Fehr, as she seeks help from Doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN

Austin Penner, as he rejoins the PASS program in Winnipeg in December

~ Those in various care homes that we remember in our prayers include: Helen Janzen at Bethania Mennonite Personal care home and Jake Rempel at Donwood Personal Care Home.

~We continue to offer our prayer support for Laure and her family, as well as for the Paroisse Missionaire Congregation in Kinshasa, DR Congo; Ryan Thiessen in San Carlos, Mexico, Murray and Carol Honsberger in Papua New Guinea, Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda, Jon & Natalie Neudorf in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with YWAM, Andrea Fehr in Hawai’i and Tyler Loewen in Cambodia with MCC

Prayer for the Week:

O God, we place our children in Your hands.  We ask not that You shield them from difficulty, but that You will give them the strength to face it; not that You will protect them from making mistakes, but that they may be able to learn from them; not that their lives will be easy, but that they will deal with its challenges courageously.  Be with them when they are vulnerable, protect them from lasting harm and keep them always in Your love.  Amen.
